At Taylor Rose, we offer a wide range of Fee-Earning Consultant opportunities. This is an exciting option for newly qualified and unqualified legal professionals or fee earners within Taylor Rose.
A Fee-Earning Consultant provides legal services under the banner of the Taylor Rose brand. However, they are not directly contracted with the firm. Instead, they are contracted and supervised by a Consultant Solicitor who can provide them with industry experience and assist in building the fee-earning consultant workload if required.
If you have previous experience with being a file handler and feel that you have both the knowledge and experience of dealing with your own caseload and referrers, then you can be a Fee-Earning Consultant for Taylor Rose. You do not need any qualifications because being a Fee-Earning Consultant means that you have the benefit of working under a qualified Solicitor who is available to discuss matters with you and offer assistance and knowledge.
As is the case with Consultant Solicitors, Fee-Earning Consultants are self-employed. Therefore, you do not receive a fixed salary, and the money you earn is dependent on how many hours you work, the type of work you source, and the fees you charge. Being self-employed also means that you are responsible for managing your own tax and national insurance payments. As a Fee-Earning Consultant, you must manage your finances pragmatically as, unlike an employee, you are not paid for annual or sick leave. However, unlike Consultant Solicitors, your billing is managed by your lead Consultant Solicitor, not by the firm.
Being self-employed means that you can work the hours that you want. But you still need to ensure you provide an excellent client service. A negative review can have a huge impact on workload and therefore you need to strive to consistently deliver a quality service.
Working self-employed can therefore be difficult and offer certain challenges. However, working as a Fee-Earning Consultant can also offer significant benefits. Just like our Consultant Solicitors, our Fee-Earning Consultants can define their earning potential, set their own hours, and create the ideal work-life balance. As a Fee-Earning Consultant, you can create your own work schedule and work the cases that you want.
If you are non-qualified, you receive a 50/50 split with 40% going to Taylor Rose and 10% to your Consultant Solicitor. You also receive support from your designated technical head and Consultant Solicitor. If you are a qualified legal professional looking to become a sole Consultant Solicitor you can receive up to 75% of your billings.
We look for people with their own following, who have good legal knowledge and experience with working independently. Being a confident communicator is critical as it will help you to win work for yourself and provide steady billing.
